Sliding doors or bifolds in Uckfield: how to choose
Both are offered. At the same size they cost about the same and take the same time to fit, so the decision is about how the door behaves in your house, not the price.

| Question | Sliding door | Bifold |
|---|---|---|
| Glass when shut | More glass, fewer frame lines | A frame every 0.9 metres or so |
| Width when open | About half to two thirds of the opening | Almost the whole opening |
| Space needed | None; panels slide in their own track | A clear strip inside or out for the folded stack |
| Everyday use | Slide one panel | Open a traffic door, or fold a pair |
| Moving parts | Rollers in a track | Hinges, rollers and guides on every leaf |
| Price at the same size | About the same | |
Choose a slider if
- The doors are shut most of the year and you want the view.
- The patio is shallow or the table sits close to the door.
- You would rather not adjust hinges as the extension settles in its first few years.
Choose a bifold if
- You want the whole wall open for parties in July.
- There is room for the folded stack without blocking a path.
- The opening is narrow enough that a slider would leave too little clear width.
Either way the surveyor will measure, look at the lintel and the floor level, and quote. See example job prices.
